With the holiday season right around the corner, it is time to get into the holiday cheer. Let the San Diego community get you ready for the Holidays with the 43rd Annual San Diego Bay Parade of Lights! Perhaps you’ve seen holiday parades before, but have you seen a parade of ships sail down the bay? Now is your chance! Come down to the San Diego Bay on Sunday, December 14th and on Sunday, December 21st to see the parade. The procession will begin at 5:30pm so if you will be at one of the hotels close to San Diego Bay be sure to bring your friends and family and enjoy the show!
The Annual San Diego Bay Parade of Lights is a time-honored tradition loved by the whole community. Come down to the docks and see over 80 boats that have all been creatively decorated for the holiday season! Imagine boats that have been decorated with hundreds of twinkling lights slowly sail down the water as the lights reflect off the water. It truly is a beautiful sight! The parade will start from Shelter Island and continue through Harbor Island around 6pm, the Embarcadero around 6:30pm, Seaport Village around 7pm, and end at Ferry Landing in Coronado around 7:30pm.
Every year there is a different theme to help get people in the holiday spirit. This year, the theme is Children’s Stories so all the ships will be decorated according to a holiday story for children or any other children’s story that has a link to the holidays! Come and see what the creative participants have come up with this year! A great place to view the parade while on land is the north and south ends of the Embarcadero, as these areas tend to be less crowded. At the end of the parade there is a grand prize offered to a lucky participant who had the best-decorated boat. The Grand prize is a package for a luxury cruise aboard a sailing ship from Star Clippers for two people.
