When you think back to your childhood, can you remember which books you read? There is a good chance books such as The Cat in the Hat; Green Eggs and Ham; Oh, the Places You’ll Go; and How the Grinch Stole Christmas! come to mind. What do all these books have in common? They were written by one of the most innovative and popular children’s author – Dr. Seuss. If you or your children love Dr. Seuss then book a room in one of the affordable places to stay in San Diego and come to the San Diego History Center and check out their latest exhibit, “Ingenious! The World of Dr. Seuss”. The exhibit is open now until January 3, 2016.
Dr. Seuss is a native of San Diego so it is only natural for the San Diego History Center to have an exhibit in his honor. This exhibit is a celebration of the imaginative world that Dr. Seuss created and that so many of us have enjoyed being a part of. There will also be family-friendly activities that everyone can enjoy at this event. The activities and displays all work towards the underlying theme of “Literacy, the Environment, and Community” – all things that Dr. Seuss advocated for. Entrance into “Ingenious! The World of Dr. Seuss” is included with general admission into the San Diego History Center.
The San Diego History Center is located at 1649 El Prado, Suite 3, San Diego, CA 92101. The Dr. Seuss exhibit is self-guided and is open Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 11:30am – 3:30pm and Tuesday & Thursday from 10am – 4pm. Admission into the museum is $10 for adults and $8 for seniors 65+, students (with ID) and retired military personnel. Youth ages 6-17 can get in for $6 and children 5 and under get in for FREE! Those with an active duty military ID can also get in free.
