Coming to San Diego to bring in the Lunar New Year?

January 25, 2016 By Kings Inn

The Lunar New Year is just around the corner and San Diego is a great place to celebrate. There are a number of locations throughout the San Diego area that are offering festivities to bring in the Lunar New Year. Here are just some of the places you can choose from if you are looking to celebrate the new Lunar Year.

From January 29th through the 31st, come celebrate with the Lunar New Year Festival at the Qualcomm Stadium. The opening ceremony will be on Saturday, January 30th. On Friday January, 29th the festival will be from 5pm to 10pm; on Saturday and Sunday it will be open from 10am – 10pm. Each day you can enjoy cultural events including a lion dance troupe, martial arts display and other live performances. In addition there will be delicious asian food, carnival rides, firecrackers and more! Visit www.lunarnewyearfestival.org for more information.

You can also celebrate the Lunar Year at Sea World. On January 30th and the 31st, February 6th-8th, 12th-15th and 20th-21st there will be fun performances throughout the park to celebrate the Lunar Year. Some of the things you can enjoy include Chinese Acrobats of Hebei, taiko drummer, lion dancers, Tai Chi presentations, delicious Asian-inspired food, and even an interactive dragon parade. For more information visit Seaworld’s official website.

Another option is to stop by the annual San Diego Chinese New Year Food & Cultural Fair. On Saturday, February 13th and Sunday, February 14th the event will be from 10am – 5pm. At this family friendly event, come celebrate the year of Monkey with live cultural performances such as martial arts demonstrations and parades to crafts, delicious food and much more! This event is FREE and open to the public. For more information, visit sdcny.weebly.com. If you are attending any of these events, there are a variety of places to stay in San Diego.
