Join the Celebration to Honor all Fathers at the Father’s Day Festival & Walk!

May 30, 2014 By Kings Inn

Father’s Day is a wonderful opportunity to thank all that our dad has done for us. This year, The Kids of America and The San Diego Classic Lions Club are hosting a Father’s Day Festival & Walk – especially to honor all the fathers who are in the military, including those who have given their life in order to protect this country. On June 14th, join the San Diego community as they partake in a 6K walk to honor fathers in the military, and all fathers serving as role models for children. The walk will conclude with a festival open for the rest of the day! While staying in the San Diego area, be sure to join the celebration of all fathers at this inspirational and heartfelt festival!

Proceeds for the walk/run will go to awareness on the importance of screening for prostate cancer. Prostate cancer is a serious disease that affects many men, even though most men don’t get screened until they are in their 50s. It has been suggested that men should start to get screened earlier for prevention. This is especially important, as prostate cancer is the second leading cause of death for men in America, only behind lung cancer. Despite this, most men diagnosed with prostate cancer have a good chance of survival as more than 2.5 million men who have been diagnosed are still alive.

The walk will start at Sears in the Westfield Mall at 6:30am and ends at the National Cemetery at Miramar. There will be a ceremony and laying of wreaths and flowers on the graves of fathers that have served in the military. After the walk, you can participate in fun activities for the whole family – including pets! There will be fun games and face painting for your children to enjoy, including other great activities that they will be sure to love. For the adults, there will be a BBQ Amateur Cook-Off Competition where anyone who wishes can sign up to test their skill at cooking all American BBQ. For the fathers, there will be a “Man Cave” that they can enjoy. As for the animals, there is a “Man’s Best Friend Contest” where you can finally prove that your dog is best! There will also be a Canine Agility course that you can sign your dog up for. This will be a great opportunity to have fun, celebrate all the fathers out there, and those who have honorably given their time to be in the military.

April 30, 2014 By Kings Inn

If you are looking for a fun time that will allow you to spend the day enjoying the great weather that San Diego has to offer, then look no further than the annual Spring Escondido Street Faire. The fair will be held on Sunday, May 18th from 9:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. in the historic Escondido area. If you’re looking for some family fun or just some time to hang out with friends, the Escondido Street Faire is a great option for everyone! If you already plan to stay in hotels near Escondido Ca, don’t miss out on this extremely popular event fit for individuals of all ages!

The fair is expected to have over 60,000 people attend with 700 unique vendors, making it the second largest single day fair in California. This is no surprise when you take into consideration all the great things this fair has to offer. The Escondido Street fair has been held every year since 1988 and it has never failed to disappoint.

The downtown festival will feature such things such as arts and crafts for kids and parents alike, fun and unique clothing, home improvement vendors, children’s rides, a beer garden, an old-fashioned pancake breakfast, and a farmers market for all your fresh produce needs. Don’t miss out on all the live music that will happen throughout the day, the opportunity to eat food from around the world, and animal demonstrations by the San Diego Zoo Safari Park.

The Escondido Street Faire takes place in downtown’s historic Grand Avenue. Grand Avenue is famous for its architecture that is reminiscent of the 1950s and for its variety of locally owned shops, art galleries, and restaurants. While walking around, take note of the candy-striped barber polls and old-timey street lamps that line the street. The downtown area is also home to a number of different festivals throughout the year such as Cruisin Grand Escondido, a classic car show that is held every summer.
